    Description: scan of catalog card [FRONT] [MAIN BODY] Chicago Natural History Museum - Ethnology | 22-35 | Provenience: Garkidda, N.E. Nigeria, E. West Africa | People or Culture: Bura tribe | Object: Percussion Musical Instrument called "nzinza" in language of Bura tribe. Also 2 "y" shaped hammers. | Description: Oval hoop of bent wood 73 cm x 57 cm diam. across which is stretched set of hardwood "keys" each 32 cm. long and about 5 cm wide. These are suspended by means of leather thongs. White woven cotton suspension strap tied to hoop. Suspended under the keys and tied to the hoop by means of leather thongs is the resonator, which is comprised of a bent, incised and decorated wooden sounding board to which are attached 7 horns of cattle (one for each key, and positioned under each key.)
