    Description: Reclining stag in mutton fat jade [white nephrite], carrying in its mouth the sacred fungus. Outer side of body convex and rather plain; inner concave side intricately carved with undercutting. Dappled hide of sika deer simply indicated by lightly incised stars. Main stalk of fungus cut free to provide a place for attaching cord on inner side. Acquired in Hsi-an, West China. [Anthropology catalog card]
