359211.3 | headdress, Headdress consists of an otter pelt with the face at the front; two red beads for eyes; the face is adjacent to a beaded pattern of mostly red with white and black beads that form feathers encircling a yellow and blue circle with an 'X' in the center in black beads. The inside of the pelt at the top is lined with dark brown fabric and light brown woven fibers; attached with white thread is the tail end of the pelt; the center has been cleared of fur and a loon was painted; on either side of the bird are a marking of a line crossed with two lines; a bove the loon is a metal star with ribbons of red, black, yellow, and white attached at the center; at the end of the ribbons are metal cylinders clamped at the top; below the star to the base are punctuered holes with ribbons tied to them of red, black, yellow and white; half way down the ribbons at the center of the pelt small metal circles are attached with red tape; the circles go to the end of the pelt | otter fur, metal, beads, marker | Menominee, Oneida |
